Elija Flores is the Audubon Southwest Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician, specializing in web-based GIS applications, cartography, geospatial analysis, and more recently, drone mapping as a newly licensed UAV remote pilot.
Elija began her Audubon journey as a Dangermond Fellow with the National Audubon Society in 2018. Before joining Audubon, Elija attended Arizona State University where she received a master's degree in GIS and a bachelor's degree in Global Health with a minor in Sustainability.
Elija is Hard of Hearing and very passionate about language inclusivity and disability accessibility, and brings that passion into her GIS work.
When Elija is not working, she enjoys spending time with her beloved Siamese cat, Rosemary, hiking, and dabbling in astrology. Her favorite southwest bird is a tie between the Gambel’s Quail and Anna’s Hummingbird.
