Audubon Southwest is excited to announce the newest Director of the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center

Meet Daniel Roper-Jones

Daniel comes to Audubon via the non-profit he founded, Fauna in Focus, where he has been working since 2015 to build a more informed and engaged public through nature discovery, wildlife education, and environmental media. Among their many accomplishments was the creation of Cambodia’s first Nature Discovery Center, which featured interactive touchscreen challenges, hands-on learning stations, a Jungle Lab Classroom, and nature trails.

A graduate of Stony Brook University, Danny grew up in New York City where The Central Park Zoo, the Museum of Natural History, and the Bronx Zoo were his favorite haunts. Following college, Danny worked in the field of environmental education and conservation in Madagascar and Nigeria in addition to Cambodia. After all that international travel and experience he is looking forward to settling in Phoenix.

A self-described nature nerd, Danny exudes passion and excitement for the outdoors and the transformative powers of being in nature. He already has big ambitions for what we can do to continue the legacy of conservation education and activity at the Center and is eager to make connections and become a part of the South Phoenix community.

Danny will begin his duties as Center Director on June 1st. We are excited to have him join the team and can’t wait to see what he does with the Center.
