How you can make a difference for native wildlife

Did you know that you can provide critical habitat for Arizona’s wildlife in your own backyard? By planting native flowering plants, trees, and shrubs, you can become part of the growing movement to create pockets of habitat within the city that are essential to the survival of our native birds, butterflies, bees, and more!

• Create a healthy yard 
• Choose native plants for birds and hummingbirds
• Learn about bird species you can attract to your yard
• Identify birds that visit your yard
• Monitor birds that visit your yard and provide an important service
• Take the Healthy Planet Pledge
• Get kids involved in hummingbird activities

Visit the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Center

Come down to the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Center and take a walk through our demonstration Pollinator Garden to get a first-hand look at how to landscape for wildlife!

Help us expand the garden beyond our gates and into the transition area between the Audubon Center and the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area on the third Saturday of each month!

Not only will you be helping native wildlife, but you will be providing an incredible resource that the South Phoenix community will enjoy for generations to come! In addition, you will be gaining the skills and knowledge you need to expand this effort to your own yard!
