Ariel Léger

Working Lands Program Manager

Ariel Léger (they/them) works with partners across the state to enhance the habitat value of grasslands, shrublands, and riparian corridors for people, birds, reptiles, and other wildlife. Ariel grew up in Montréal, Québec, where they developed a love for the outdoors by hiking, paddling, and camping across the province. Ariel moved to British Columbia in 2010 where they spent the better part of a decade working in forestry, agriculture, and native food plants while exploring the mountains and deserts of Western Canada.

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in British Columbia, Ariel moved to Tucson to complete a Master’s at the University of Arizona. Ariel studied ecological restoration with a focus on soil health and rangeland ecology. After earning their degree, Ariel worked with the Conservation and Adaptation Resources Toolbox where he supported collaborative conservation in grasslands, forests, and aquatic ecosystems across the Southwest with a wide network of restoration practitioners, land managers, and researchers.
